Gangable
Many applications require seating that can be ganged together to meet code requirements and maintain a neat and orderly installation. Some use a clip that stores in the frame and is simple to use. Others are clamped together on the leg or frame. Ganging is a great option where multiple seating is needed or to meet safety code requiements. Seven of our gangable chair models are also part of our Plus Size Seating+ collection.

There are times when additional seating is required for more than one person. At Westin-Nielsen, we can build settees and sofas for these occasions. Settee's are generally bigger than a chair, yet smaller than a sofa. Settee's and sofas are easily customized to meet your space requrements if one of our standard products just won't fit. Plus Size Seating products are designed to accommodate every individual that uses a space without sacrificing style, design or continuity. Plus Size products can be combined with standard size products of the same design to allow for maximum flexibility and options that make your guests feel both welcome and comfortable. Every frame in these designs, regardless of the physical size, is built to the same demanding standards of a 600 lb Drop Test and 1200 lb Static Load Test.

Capacity and Testing
Every frame in our Plus Size Seating collection is built to the same standards, regardless of the physical size of the chair:
- Drop Test – 600lbs. using ANSI/BIFMA test protocols.
- Static Load Test – 1200 lbs.

Seat Springs Construction
A seat spring system adds comfort and years of life to any chair. We include a seat spring assembly on many of our designs, each tailored to the chair, its use and style. Better support for the foam means extra years of use and a better sit.
Foam Facts
All of our chairs are built using high quality polyurethane foam for seat and back cushioning. We can change the foam to match your needs. We tailor the firmness and resiliency to maximize comfort and use the best material available to insure your chair lasts a long time. Contact Westin-Nielsen Customer Service for more information.
All of our foam meets California Technical Bulletin #117 and BIFMA x5.7-1991 flammability standards.
CAL TB 133 Facts
All Westin-Nielsen chairs can be constructed to be CAL TB133 compliant. When a fire barrier layer is added to our chairs, CAL TB133 compliance can be achieved with a wide range of commercial fabrics. Fabric content must be provided at time of order. We will notify you if the fabric selected is not acceptable.
The additional charge for CAL TB133 compliant construction is:
+15% List extra for all single chair models
+20% List extra for all multiple seating, sofa or settee models.
If project specific test results are required, you will be responsible for any test charges and associated freight costs. Please contact Westin-Nielsen Customer Service for details.
We will label chairs constructed to CAL TB133 compliant standards as such. Please be aware that the use of a fire barrier layer to achieve CAL TB133 compliance may affect the upholstered appearance and comfort of the product.

Laser Engraving

Hand Hold and Cutout 
A hand hold or cutout in the wood back of a Sita chair adds an interesting look while making the chairs easier to move. This option is available on standard and Plus Size versions. Casters 
More and more we are asked to add casters to our chairs. For use in multi-purpose rooms, as side chairs in private offices, in conference settings and dining applications, adding wheels makes the chair easier to move and more convenient to use. Casters and wheels can be added to all of our wood frame chairs and to the steel framed Sita series.
Pommel Grip
Add a pommel grip arm to Rainier and Rainier Summit seating to give your visitors that little extra grip to get in and out more easily.

Our ganging attachment for our wood framed Basico, Chateau, Lamineer, Manitou, Medina, Rainier, and Villa packs a lot of utility into a small package. Use it to maintain an orderly appearance or to help meet occupancy codes. Our unique, spring-loaded device is self-storing in the bottom of the chair arm and quickly deploys when needed. You’ll hardly ever see it and it will not interfere with the stacking capabilities of stack chair designs.

Custom Wood Finishes
For the rare occasion that our standard wood finishes (16 standard beech or maple finishes and 4 standard oak finishes) so not fit, let us custom match a color for you. Let us make it convenient for you. Four fabric suppliers are already graded in (CF Stinson, Mayer Fabrics, Momentum, and Anzea) Just click the links below to go to their websites. COM Policy
We do not require pre-approval for upholstery fabrics from established commercial suppliers. Yardage requirements listed in our price list are for one chair and no pattern repeat. For the exact yardage, please contact Westin-Nielsen Customer Service with the following information:

- Fabric manufacturer and pattern
- Fabric width
- Pattern repeat information
We can supply a quote with graded in fabrics and as COM. With one call, everything will be handled – no more worries about coordinating deliveries.

The fabric requirements for each chair in our price list are for single chairs with no fabric pattern. Naturally matching patterns may require more fabric. Wood Finishes
We take our wood very seriously. From lumber selection to sanding, staining and finishing, we are focused on producing a durable finish that will provide you with years of service.
Sanding, Staining and Finishing Facts
The finishing process for our chairs begins before they are assembled. Every design is analyzed and components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies are sanded first by machine and finally by hand to prepare a surface that will be uniform and ready to accept stain and finish without flaw.
Stains are hand rubbed for uniformity and maximum wood penetration. Every piece then goes through a two-stage sealing and finishing process to produce a tough, durable finish that looks great and will last for years. Many of our customers have chairs that have been in continuous service for more than 15 years.

Good Neighbors
Westin-Nielsen’s factory is located in a small town that skirts beautiful White Bear Lake, just outside the Twin Cities metro area. We love our town, and as responsible neighbors, we work hard to make sure our factory maintains the highest standards possible for being good stewards of our resources and keeping our community clean. In recent years, we’ve incorporated many changes to reduce our impact on the environment:
Improved Air Quality - We’ve taken steps to improve it both inside the factory as well as clean any exhaust we emit.
Reduced Energy Consumption – We’ve actually decreased the amount of energy we use to manufacture our products, which is not only good for the environment, but also helps keep the costs of our chairs down, which is good for our customers.
Forest Stewardship Standards – We’re also implementing measures to ensure that we comply with sustainable forestry methods.
Reduce, Reuse & Recycle – We’re a pretty thrifty bunch, so very little goes to waste in our factory. We also employ simple techniques, like blanket-wrapping shipments whenever possible, which not only reduces the need for packaging material, but also saves our customers money.
It’s worth pointing out, that Westin-Nielsen chairs last a long time. Their quality construction and versatile design means that these chairs are used for years longer than industry norms. That’s not only good for our customers, but it also eases the burden at landfills
Meeting the Standards

NWN, Inc./Westin-Nielsen offers a Guaranteed Freight Program. When we quote you a freight estimate, you can lock that cost in on your purchase order. This freight quote is valid for 60 days from day of quotation.
All shipments are FOB White Bear Lake, Minnesota and are quoted on a dock-to-dock basis. Any additional freight fees (i.e. demurrage, extra delivery or notification charges including inside delivery and freight damage claims) will be the responsibility of the customer.
Third party freight billing directly to you by the carrier is available upon request.
Blanket Wrapped Shipments For many orders, blanket wrapped shipments may provide a lower total cost after factoring in unpacking and carton disposal costs. Blanket wrapped shipments also produce less waste because they use less packaging material. NWN, Inc./Westin-Nielsen reserves the right to use blanket wrapped shipping on any order in excess of 25 stacks or cartons.
Upholstery info-moisture barrier, COM, railroading Upholstery For your convenience , our pricing includes use of Mayer, CF Stinson, Momentum and Anzea fabrics. They are graded in our price list at level B to G. Additional grade information, including grading in of other fabrics, is available by contacting Westin-Nielsen Customer Service.
Moisture Barrier A moisture barrier is available for an extra charge of 10%. Contact Westin-Nielsen Customer Service for complete information.
Customer’s Own Material COM) For the exact amount of yardage required, contact Westin-Nielsen Customer Service. All yardage requirements shown in our price list are based on 54” wide solid fabric. Increase the requirement by 1/3 for fabrics less than 52” wide. Material under 50” is not recommended. For unusually styled material, striped or patterned fabric, allow up to 30% additional material, depending on the fabric design and furniture involved. An additional charge may be made to cover costs of cutting, matching and sewing unusual material. Sofas, settees and benches of 36” wide may require seams. Unless specific written instructions are given, we will use our own discretion as to matching of stripes and patterns.
We reserve the right to cancel an order at any time if we deem customer supplied material to be inadequate for any reason. On all orders using COM, we do not assume responsibility for the appearance, durability or appropriateness of the material on the finished product.

Customer’s Own Leather (COL) Customer’s Own Leather (COL) will be priced as Grade “B.” 18-square feet of leather equals one yard of fabric.
